Black Obsidian earrings

Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock. We found this Obsidian in the lava flows near Grants, New Mexico in the Zuni Mountains. Walking over lava flows can be tricky as the rocks are sharp and unstable. We came home with scraped knees and elbows as the sharp rock edges penetrated through our clothing.

The obsidian is set in sterling silver. As each stone is individually cut and shaped; each pair of earrings will be unique in shape and size!

These earrings can be made with:

  • Amazonite
  • Rhodonite
  • Lapis
  • Apache Tears
